Surprisingly, this is an R-5 (30-76 minted). We figure they wouldn’t have minted many. but the reason why they did-the tiny 3CS pieces was not going over well. This coin is a stunning survivor!
Strong mirrors are clean, clear, and offer powerful reflectivity (just like proofs from the 1880’s). There are NO spots or problems. The color is a mix of moderate brown with faded hints of original mint red around some devices. Everything about this coin is ORIGINAL. Miss Liberty and teh details are pinpoint sharp in strike and display light frost. The eye appeal is really super.
PCGS 2, NGC 1, CAC 1. PCGS has graded only ONE coin higher-a PR66RB. The originals are heavier than the restrikes.
Keep in mind, ANY PCGS GEM PR65RB Large Cent will set you back at least $7,000.00+. This piece is really priced too cheap. Regardless, we think th design is really cool as well as the original intentions for the piece. To us, this is numismatic history at its best!
