J-1478 G $1 1876 PCGS PR64BN

$22,000.00

This is a die trial of an 1876 Gold Dollar. It is struck in copper. It is an R-8 which mean only 2-3 were ever made (and yes, the Simpson Collection has the FINEST known)!

We believe PCGS misunderstood a minor planchet flake as a tick. The flake is extremely tiny and you can NOT see anything with the naked eye. Plus, there are only 2 of them. Overall, this coin has surprisingly strong mirrors. Deep toning consisting of brown/blue/gold /pale green evenly covers both sides. Miss Liberty and the details are needle sharp in strike and boldly stand out. The eye appeal is terrific!

PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. This coin last sold back in 2003 (EIGHT years ago) for $11,500.00. The JUDD book values these at $15.000.00 in PR63 and $25,000.00 in PR 65. We agree this coin should be worth at least that! Legend Numismatics is proud to own and offer a coin that could be classified as an “opportunity of a lifetime”!
