J-1434 $2.5 1875 NGC PR62 GILT

$11,500.00

This is a high R-7 which means its mintage is closer to 4 than 12! Even in regular gold, 1875 has one of the lowest mintages for ALL the $2.5’s-just 400 were made.

The quality is VERY high end. It is housed in an older thicker NGC holder. Overall, save for a die crack, the surfaces are very clean. There does seem to be some very light original toning scattered about. All of the details are razor sharp in strike. Looks like a regular $2.5 only its plated in gilt!

We can’t stress enough the coolness factor of this piece. Its rarity (as a pattern) is undisputed: PCGS 0, NGC 1. In copper (which is what gilt usually covers, there is only one piece graded higher by PCGS (a PR64). Price wise, this has to be considered a “rip”. A regular MS62, would cost at least $30,000.00-if you can find the lone piece graded by PCGS! Not only does opportunity knock loud here-its waving flags, doing hand stands, and really screaming!
