J-1021 $1 1870 PCGS PR66

$37,500.00

This is a high R-7 (4-6 minted). It is a die trial for the regular design of 1870. The quality is “as struck” (like it left the Mint) and everything is totally ORIGINAL!

unusual for an aluminum piece that the planchet did not crumble or split during striking. There are NO problems to be found even using a strong glass. The mirrors are deep, clear, and do have bold reflectivity. A very light mist of pale pewter like color covers both sides. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have full strikes. The eye appeal is phenomenal!

PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. The Simpson coin is a NGC PR67 Cameo. There are NO auction records for this coin. The Judd book values these at $27,500.00 in PR65. We do know it has been with the Denali Collection since 1990. If you are a serious Pattern buyer, or love off metal coins, this may be your ONLY opportunity to acquire a monster GEM example.
