J-0339 50C 1863 PCGS PR64BN

Only one small mark keeps this coin from being a gorgeous PR65BN! It is a R-6 (21-30 minted) that is made from copper.

Overall, this coin is extremely clean and shows off smooth surfaces. A small scrape visible only w/a glass at 8:00 on the obverse is what we think keeps it from a PR65. The mirrors are actually strong, clear, and clean. Both sides are a beautiful glossy chocolate brown/pale blue/pale violet color. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck. The eye appeal is terrific!

PCGS 4, NGC 1. Only PCGS has graded one coin higher (a PR66). In a recent major auction, one SOLD for $4,600.00 1/09 Stacks. This coin is housed in an older green tag holder. It has been away in a collection for over 20 years!
