We always are in awe as to how these small coins could have survived in such remarkable states of preservation after 133 years. This coin is awesome!
No question this coin is totally ORIGINAL. If you look really hard with a strong glass, you can see 2 small TONING spots. The surfaces overall are super clean and do have light traces of semi-prooflike mirrors. The luster is booming and shows off the ORIGINAL orange gold colors. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and have sharp strikes. The eye appeal is tremendous!
ONLY 1600 were ever minted. PCGS 26, NGC 20, CAC 15. The last 1880 MS68 to sell in auction was an NGC/CAC coin. That piece realized $10,281.00 8/12 Heritage. If you think about it, these are really an incredible piece of numismatic history (being obsolete denomination). We think these are pretty cool.
