A very difficult date to locate above MS65! Never saw die clashing as strong as this on any Gold Dollar.
The quality is solid for the grade. There are NO impairments visible to the naked eye. Under a strong glass you can see a teenie tick or two and some cool mint made clash marks. In fact, this is the ONLY $1 gold piece we have ever handled where we can clearly see the obverse words Liberty fully on the reverse! A full booming luster enhances the beautiful yellow gold/orange gold colors. There are NO spots or stains. Miss Liberty and the details are lightly frosted and fully struck. The eye appeal is fabulous!
PCGS 7, NGC 7. There are NO auction records for any MS66 pieces selling in the past several years! PCGS has graded 2 in MS67-and either of those (if you could find one) would cost over $12,500.00. NOTE: An NGC MS65 sold for $3,105.00 04/08 Heritage. Opportunity knocks loud here!
