Looking at all the stats on this date its easy to see how they do NOT come-nice. When we saw this coin and liked it, we did not realize it actually ranks as one of the finest graded!
Using a strong glass there appears to be some minor planchet roughness. You can clearly see the die polishing lines (Mint made) and traces of semi-prooflike mirrors. There are no real problems visible. Both sides are enlivened by a strong luster. The color is a totally ORIGINAL deeper gold. There are NO spots or high point discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are surprisingly sharp in strike. The eye appeal is tremendous!
PCGS 4, (NONE HIGHER), NGC 12, CAC 2. The last one to sell in a major auction brought $13,800.00 08/2011 Heritage. Seems kinda too reasonable for a 161 year old coin from a Obsolete Mint!
