50C 1939 PDS ARK SET PCGS MS66

If you have followed us through our 30+ year career, one of the constants about us you know is we LOVE ANY GEM MATCHED ORIGINAL SET. Commem sets have always frustrated us because there are no great hoards around and so many sets have been broken up. Yet the values never really move up. Of all the sets, we strongly believe 38+39 Arks, 38 Boones, Cinnics, and GEM matched RI sets are true rarities and are grossly undervalued. If we had to guess, in our entire career, we maybe have handled no more than 3-4 MS66 39 Ark sets (if even). The finest one we sold is in the Shalor Collection we built years ago and has wild colors. Note: we vividly remember an auction a few years ago where a monster colored set was broken up because the D mint graded 68. We ALWAYS buy 38+39 Ark sets when we see ones we like. This set was easy to buy!

Each coin clearly is similar to the other. No, this set doesn’t have wild color, but it is lightly toned with some faint gold. The surfaces are all super clean and emit a decent luster for Arks. All of the details are exceptionally struck. There are NO problems visible anywhere. Each coin looks really good and is definitely a real MS66.

At most there were only 2100 sets minted. We doubt if more than 1/4 exist intact in any grade. The PCGS pops for each mint are: P: 26, D: 59, S: 74. We still believe sets like this will have their day! Opportunity knocks loud here.
