Yet another superb GEM from the great Dakota Collection!
This piece almost reminds you of a 41D. These early dates are tricky and you think they come nice, when in fact they do not. This piece is clearly above average. The surfaces are extremely clean and smooth. A strong luster surprisingly shows off ORIGINAL moderate shades of champagne/pearl green/blue/golden brown that swirl all over. A small thin crescent of reddish gold can be seen around 11:00 on the obverse. Miss Liberty and the details are INCREDIBLY struck. You do not need a glass to see the pinpoint sharpness of the skirt lines or eagles feathers. The eye appeal is terrific!
PCGS 38, NGC 31, CAC 5. in 07/2010 A NON CAC PCGS piece sold for $3,738.00 in Heritage. Prior to that, another sold for the same in 2009. Do not be fooled by the pops, this is not an easy date to locate in SUPERB GEM! We doubt it had wild colors like this.
