We have never handled an MS64 of this date before. In fact, there have been VERY FEW halves from the 1840’s we have handled in ANY grade of MS. This coin is definitely VERY CHOICE!
Super clean surfaces are smooth. Even with a strong glass you can not find any problems. A wicked neat die crack can be seen on the reverse. A light to moderate luster shows off even totally ORIGINAL pewter/dove gray colors. This is NOT a dull or drab coin. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck. The eye appeal is excellent!
PCGS 4, NGC 11, CAC 3. PCGS has graded only 4 coins higher while CAC has possibly beaned only 2 higher. The last one to sell in auction brought $3,055.00 11/12 Stacks. We think coins like this are tremendously UNDERvalued as you do NOT see them hardly ever offered.
