50C 1815/2 PCGS AU53 O-101

This is a beautiful quality oriented piece. We do rank it a full GEM AU coin. There is only a hint of high point friction, is finer than most AU coins offered. Rich pale blue toning blends with slate and golden iridescent toning is backlit by a lovely dose of underlying luster. A few stray lines blend with die clashes. Well struck and about as nice as you will see for this date in AU. Usually 1815s are dull gray and show signs of cleaning; this coin is totally unmessed with. The eye appeal is fabulous! PCGS 15, NGC 18, CAC 8. Its a little complicated about this coin’s pricing history. It did sell in our 05/2016 auction for $13,512.00-to a crack out dealer. They are-consigned it and it just sold for $10,870.00 (at that price it was a “no brainer”  for us to buy). Prior to our Regency 18 Sale, the last PCGS CAC example of this grade realized nearly $9,500 in September 2011. Hello! That is 5 years ago! Its also important to note: the last PCGS/CAC AU50 to sell brought $11,456.00 12/2015. Here is a great coin, at a great price!
