We call a coin a GEM AU when its really nice. This coin is awesome for an 1815/2!
Marvelous surfaces are clean and smooth. If you use a strong glass all you will find are some light clash marks (Mint made). A surprising strong luster illuminates the surfaces all over. Gorgeous original colors of reddish gold/blue/green frame the devices only. The centers are a silver. There are no discolorations on the high points. This is NOT a dipped out and retoned coin. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck. The eye appeal is fabulous!
PCGS 22, NGC 20, CAC 3. There has not been a 1815/2 PCSG CAC sold since 2011. Do NOT be fooled by the pops, this is a rare coin! We especially LOVE the eye appeal and quality.
