$5 1823 NGC AU58

Early $5 Bust coins are pretty cool. Sadly too many have been messed with so we can’t buy them. Finally, here we have found a coin we really like!

No question this coin is totally ORIGINAL. Traces of semi-prooflike mirrors can be seen when you tilt the coin. The surfaces have a few ticks and light lines-nothing deep or serious. A light luster shows off rich yellow gold that mixes with reddish gold highlights. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and do not display any real wear. The eye appeal is VERY pleasing!

PCGS 2, NGC 6, CAC 1. NGC has only graded 9 coins higher while PCGS shows 8. This is NOT a common date by any stretch. The last NGC coin to sell in a major auction was a NON CAC which sold back in 01/2008 Heritage for $17,250.00. The last PCGS to sell at auction-was back in 1997!

This coin is classic numismatics. It may not run up in price overnight, but thought its history it has always slowly and steadily rose in price over time. We can’t stress enough how few of these there are (even as a Type) and the great long term potential these offer. Now, because of CAC you can buy an unmessed with coin and know you have something secure. Opportunity can’t knock any louder here!
