We are madly in love with this piece. It is a rarely encountered date and grade.
The surfaces are very nice overall. Only with a strong glass can you find a trivial scattered ticks and light lines. There is a light luster visible. Some pale original toning can be seen mostly around the peripheries. There are NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have extra sharp strikes. The wear is very light and is even. The eye appeal is tremendous!
PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. The price guides for this coin are completely outdated. When we quizzed the dealer who is the undisputed biggest buyer of early gold about this coins value, he offered us $14,000.00 sightUNSEEN (and begged us to send it for a higher offer). We can’t remember the last time we saw an nice AU 1820 ever offered. In fact in ALL grades of AU (50-58) PCGS has graded only 9 coins tops after 26+ years of operations. There are a few MS pieces, but they are expensive. We are pleased to offer this great coin (still in an OGH) at a great price!
