3CS 1868 PCGS MS63

This coin is frosty and is not deeply mirrored (the way a real MS should be). It is easy to confirm it is genuine MS piece. We do rank it in the top 5% for the grade. Why PCGS did not give it a + is wonder to us!

To the naked eye this piece looks clean, smooth, and lightly mirrored. With a strong glass you can see a teenie hidden tick or two, which is probably what is keeping this from MS64. A strong booming luster does show off totally ORIGINAL deeper royal blue/golden brown colors that open into a purple violet mix. Every detail is pinpoint sharp in strike and does have strong frost. The eye appeal is like the coins quality-tremendous!

ONLY 3500 were ever minted. This date and the 1869 are considered the “stoppers” for the series. PCGS 6, NGC 3, CAC 1. The last PCGS piece to sell in auction was back on 03/2009. That piece was a NON CAC and brought only $2,530.00. Fast forward to today and demand certainly has increased-especially the demand for a no question high end MS 1868!
