This coin is not only VERY High End, it is gorgeous too!
Slightly semi prooflike surfaces appear clean and sleek. Only with a strong glass can you see some microscopic ticks. The images all distort the ticks as they really are VERY tiny. A full booming luster enhances beautiful totally original two tone yellow/orange gold fiery colors. There are NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty boldly stands out with a needle sharp strike and lots of frost. In person, the eye appeal ranks a full 10 (out of 10)!
Only 3000 were minted. PCGS 39, NGC 20, CAC 9. The last PCGS CAC piece to sell in auction brought $17,037.00 08/2103. The current PCGS CAC value is $15,700.00. No question this is a much scarcer date in full GEM (note a commoner $3 is an 1878 w/196 in PCGS MS65 and 41 beaned). It’s much harder to find a sparking, colorful, and unmessed with GEM like this today at the lower prices prices. This coin will make a great addition to ANY GEM $3 or Gold Type set.
