$3 1877 PCGS AU58

$24,500.00

Here is a real numismatic treat. This coin has NOT been in ANY auctions and has been with the same collector we placed it with for several years. He actually had a small group of 1877 $3 he sold us late Dec.

This is the real deal-it barely misses MS status. Most important, its has NOT been messed with (which obviously CAC agrees with) as so many have. both sides are fully prooflike and have nothing worse than light lines. Ticks are few and are not magnified by the strong mirrors. The color is an even orange gold. There are NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck and do have light frost. If it were raw, you might call it UNC. The eye appeal is fantastic!

No question this date is the silent stopper to the series. Sure, there are dates like the 1881 (mintage 500) and the 1885 (mintage 800) but many of those survived in decent condition. If you are a collector of this series, we do not have to tell you how important a coin like this is. ONLY 1468 were ever minted. PCGS 8, NGC 12. THE LAST PCGS COIN TO APPEAR AT AUCTION WAS BACK IN 2000! An NGC sold last year for $20,700.00! Opportunity knocks loud for the serious $3 collector.
