$3 1862 PCGS MS-65
$49,500.00
In reality, this coin is a steal. We do not understand why any GEM PRE 1870’s $3 isn’t worth at least $75,000.00. To have a coin that has lasted over 146 years in pretty much its original state of preservation is amazing-let alone the fact it was made during the Civil War!
This coin makes a bold statement upon viewing. It clearly is a MS65 plus. There are some small tell tale signs as to why its a 65 and why its totally original. There is a small copper spot on the reverse. Light MINT MADE striations are clearly visible and do NOT detract. There are light traces of semi-prooflike mirrors. Some MINOR die clashing is visible. Both sides are a beautiful medium yellow gold color. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have excellent strikes. This coin looks wonderful!
ONLY 5750 were minted. PCGS 4, NGC 2. PCGS has 3 coins graded higher and NGC has 2. Still, its a rare Civil War era date that you hardly see offered. In fact the last record major auction of one of these (according to our machine) was back in 1999 and the coin sold for $24,150.00. Opportunity knocks loud here!
