No question this piece is totally ORIGINAL. The mirrors are clean and really strong for a 1873. You can see the reflectivity of the mirrors from across the room. They do have some light toning-but nothing that’s dusky or ugly. Every detail is needle sharp in strike and has light frost. The eye appeal is exceptional!
Only 600 were ever minted for this PROOF ONLY date. PCGS 18, NGC 37, CAC 2. PCGS and CAC have graded NO coins higher. The last 1873 CL 3 to sell in major auction brought $6,463.00 09/2012 Heritage. Do NOT let the pop reports fool you, these are legitimately RARE coins!
