Even way back in 1861, they knew how to make fantastic looking proofs. Both sides have deep, crystal clear, glittering, clean, and highly reflective mirrors. There are NO imperfections to be found anywhere. A beautiful color scheme of blue/pale navy/purple splashes and swirls across both sides. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck and have light frost. The eye appeal is wonderful!
1000 pieces were minted, but most were melted due to poor sales of proof sets. Like with the 1860, it is estimated LESS than 400 still exist in any grade. PCGS 5, NGC 12.
