25C 1847 PCGS PR64

$18,500.00

VERY HIGH END quality. We think PCGS did not grade this a PR65 because it does not have the commercial “look” they like (they do not like mottled colors). We do consider this coin a full GEM!

Can’t say we have seen or handled many other 1847 proof coins (we did own a PR66 Dime once). It surprises us how deep and incredibly reflective the mirrors are. They actually look like a fresh sheet of ice. The toning while slightly mottled is a mix of blue/green/rose/gold and is spread evenly over the surfaces. There are some light lines on the reverse only (you need a glass to see them). Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck. The eye appeal is great!

PCGS 2, NGC 1, CAC 1 (this is the ONLY coin CAC has stickered for the date). PCGS has graded 2 coins PR 65. There have been NO PCGS pieces at auction in the past 10 years. The last one to sell was an NGC PR64 and that brought 17,250.00 in 2005. Legend Numismatics is pleased to own and offer this exceptional example of an exceedingly rare coin. Remember, its as rare (or rarer) than a 94S 10C, a 1804 $1, a 70S $1, an 1884 TD to name just a few.
