$20 1909 PCGS PR64

1909’s were not regular sandblast Matte surfaces, they were Roman finish. Very few 1909’s are ever offered for sale. Legend is proud to own and offer this amazing coin to our customers. Its Ultra high end quality is undeniable as well.

No question this coin is 100% original. We do know it was a “fresh” coin purchased raw by a major dealer. He submitted it only once and was expecting a much higher grade. The ONLY thing holding it back is a very well hidden small scratch in the lower right rays. A few teenie imperfections can ONLY be found with a strong glass and would not keep this coin possibly from a PR 65 designation. Both sides do appear clean and have a bright luster. The color is a heart pounding yellow gold. There are NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and do stand out. We absolutely grade this coin a 64.8+, while we grade the eye appeal 67+!

The extreme rarity of this coin can NOT be overstated. There are ONLY 67 pieces minted. PCGS 7, NGC 9, CAC 1. PCGS has graded only 5 coins higher while NGC possibly has 19 (including the PR 67 we placed in the Simpson Collection).

The coin offered here was NOT from any auction. We do wish to point out that the last PCGS coin sold in a major auction brought $51,750.00 9/2007 Goldberg (CAC was not around then either). This is yet another coin where virtually ALL published prices are incorrect. So few of these appear at auction.

The last 1909 Proof Legend owned was a PCGS PR65 that was purchased back in 1994! We can not stress enough how rare the opportunity is to acquire a truly awesome 1909 PR $20 like this.
