$20 1870CC PCGS XF40

The collector who assembled the Pickering Creek Collection understood the importance of having his “key” date coins in as nice of a condition as possible. This 70CC $20-is definitely superior to the other XF’s we have ever seen.

The most important difference between this and every other 70CC $20 in ANY grade-it is NOT marked up. Rarely will you find one without numerous ticks and hacks. The surfaces are smooth and problem free. Both sides have a nice original patina of deep gold. there is a small toning patch in the upper right obverse at 10:00 or so. Amazingly lots of original luster still glows from around the devices. Miss Liberty and the details are clean and have exceptional strikes. This is not your typical 1870CC $20-it looks far better than most!

Only 3789 were minted. PCGS 6, NGC 6. The most recent one to sell in a major public auction was an NGC coin which sold for $299,000.00 06/08 Stacks. This coin was purchased via private treaty.
