$2.5 1805 PCGS AU58

As many of you know, we LOVE ALL $2.5 Gold pieces. This is the FIRST 1805 we have ever owned or handled. In the few we have ever seen, we have not liked what we saw. We are proud to own and offer this piece!

Total originality is the highlight here. This coin clearly is NOT washed out or scrubbed up. The surfaces are actually very clean and do have some light luster. Also, a very light coating of toning is visible on both sides. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck (as well struck as you will see for a slightly worn coin from the 1800’s)! There are NO discolorations on the high points. The eye appeal of this GEM AU coin is fantastic!

A note: this coin is CAC stickered. When it comes to early gold, the folks at CAC (especially John Albanese) rank at the very top of handling this type of coin. Believe us, they have seen it all. So for them to sticker it, it has to be a special coin. The collecting public has no idea how many over graded and just plain messed with early gold pieces exist. We strongly suggest you always buy CAC stickered coins when buying anything early.

Only 1781 were ever minted. We do NOT think the pop reports are correct: PCGS 13, NGC 15. PCGS has graded only 6 coins higher! in 07/07 an NGC coin sold at Heritage auction for $29,900.00. This is NOT hype, OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS LOUD HERE!
