Recently we handled an NGC AU58 that was very nice. Now, out of one of the collections we purchased comes this gorgeous GEM AU specimen. We went 35+ years without ever handling one, now have handled two superb pieces in less than 60 days. No, these are NOT common by any stretch!
To start, the total originality of this coin is unquestionable. Both sides have some light marks visible only under a glass. There is nothing serious. No spots or discolorations are visible. The color is a beautiful light two tone orange/deep yellow gold. A surprisingly strong luster radiates boldly. Miss Liberty and all of the details are very well struck. The eye appeal is definitely fantastic! You can be the fussiest buyer in the world-this coin WILL more than please you!
Only 3000 pieces were ever minted. PCGS 8, NGC 28. In full MS, PCGS has graded possibly just 16 total pieces.
