Unlike several of the silver proofs of this date (which come shallow and hazy), this coin has strong no question sleek glittering mirrors. There are NO problems to be found anywhere. About 50% of the surfaces are GEM ORIGINAL Mint red w/light hints of brown/purple colors. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck (no weakness can be found anywhere) and have light frost. The eye appeal is tremendous!

PCGS 2, NGC 0, CAC 1. The great rarity of this coin is equal or even greater than a 1894S 10C, an 1804 $1, or an 1884 Trade Dollar. ALL of those coins sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars-if not millions. The last auction appearance prior to Holes was 09/2009 Goldberg where this coin sold for $35,650.00. Prior to that NO 1849’s what so ever had been auctioned for at least a decade! We can not understand why this is not at least a $50,000.00 coin as it has BOTH QUALITY and RARITY (we could easily see this as a $100,000.00 coin).
