1C 1826 PCGS MS64RB N-6

An interesting coin. We grade the reverse full MS65RB while the obverse has some light chatter to keep it an MS64.

Both sides are graced by an unusual strong luster. The chatter is on Liberty’s face-while the surfaces are virgin clean. A few teenie toning spots are scattered across the obverse as well. The color is a a rich ORIGINAL Mint RD with about 1/3 soft chocolate brown mixed in. Miss Liberty and the details actually are needle sharp in strike. They really stand out. The eye appeal is very good.

This date is a unsung rarity. PCGS 3, NGC 1. In RB, only PCGS has one higher. The last one of these to appear in a major public auction sold for $4,025.00 11/08 Stacks. We think this coin represents a terrific opportunity for the serious Large Cent collector.
