This is an exceptional GEM quality example of this date and type. We love these pieces when they are true original GEM Red. We had to buy this piece!
The surfaces are super clean and smooth. There is no reason to question this coin’s total originality. A bold glowing luster beams from all over. The original GEM Mint Red colors sparkle boldly. A microscopic toning dots cane be seen ONLY when using a strong glass. Every detail is sharply struck and has light frost. The eye appeal is pretty neat too!
PCGS 36, NGC 19, CAC 6. There are 3 graded MS65+ RD, and just a half dozen graded higher. Prior to this coin realizing $4,230.00 1/2020, the last PCGS/CAC example sold in our December 2017 Regency Auction for $5,523. Extremely rare finer, nothing higher with CAC approval has ever sold (PCGS has graded 6 finer possibly). This is a great coin for any GEM Type or Mint State 2C collection.
