1834 $5 Gold Classic Head Class-Pl 4 PCGS MS64+ (CAC)

Even though there are a handful of coins graded higher, this coin should be ranked with them! This is an old friend to us. The owner has decided not to build a Type set and is now selling it.

Here was the description:

We sure do not see Classic Heads like this anymore. We have seen many GEM’s and several near GEMs of this Type. This coin is far superior. In fact, we bought the MS 65 our of the last Miller sale (paid $120,000.00). THIS COINS EYE APPEAL IS FAR BETTER THEN THE MS 65. Without any hesitation we grade this coin a VERY REAL MS64.9+! Before 3rd party grading there is no doubt in our minds this coin was called a GEM MS 65.

Remarkable surfaces are as pristine as you will ever see. Even using a strong glass all you can find is one tiny microscopic tick and a small Mint made planchet issue. The surfaces are nearly fully prooflike and offer strong mirrors that put on a show. The mirrors offer tremendous clarity and an intense flash. Both sides are a killer original brilliant gold/deeper gold color. The contrast is bold. There are NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and have thick frost. The eye appeal is tremendous!

PCGS 35, NGC 44, CAC 12. PCGS has graded only 8 coins in MS64+ and 6 finer. We would challenge this coin’s quality and eye appeal vs any NON CAC (or CAC) GEM! Forget about published prices here. To place this coin in the Coronet Collection where quality and eye appeal were everything. There are NO published prices that accurately reflect this coins value. Be glad it was not in the FUN auction. Trust us here, this coin borders on being worth $125,000! We’re not hyping anything about this incredible piece-seeing is believing!

Our opinion has not changed about this remarkable GEM. We easily rank it in the top 2% for the grade!
