Had this spectacular GEM been in our sale of the nearly complete Simpson Seated Dime set last summer at ANA, it would most likely have sold for multiples of what we are offering it for! This coin is a true GEM in every respect!
To the naked eye this coin looks completely problem free and smooth. Using a powerful glass you will detect light chatter in the right obverse field. Both sides are lustrous. An even mix of ORIGINAL pale navy/blue/deep pewter colors blend together and swirl all over the surfaces. These colors are NOT dull or drab. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck. The eye appeal is great!
PCGS 1, NGC 2, CAC 1. Only NGC has 2 coins higher, PCGS has NONE. There are NO auction records for this date in GEM. No question it is undervalued-primarily because none have ever traded. The 1872S PCGS MS65 CAC (pop 2) from our Simpson sale brought $34,500.00. Even an 1885S PCGS MS65 (pop 2) brought $32,200.00 back in 2005. Opportunity knocks furiously loud for the serious MS Seated Dime Collector.
