$10 1873CC PCGS AU55

$75,000.00

We safely suspect this coin is the SECOND FINEST KNOWN. It is tied with one NGC coin in AU55 and there is a NGC AU58 (ex BASS) that wins top honors. Plus, this coin is clearly HIGH END.

Very close to full AU58. Just a few tiny ticks away. Do note that there are NO major scuffs or problems (this is not a typical chewed up coin). The wear is pretty well light and hidden. Both sides delight in a surprising strong original luster. The color is a rich gold. There are NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are very well struck and do appear boldly. The eye appeal is really nice!

Just 4543 pieces were minted. PCGS 1, NGC 1. For whatever reason the survival rate was super low. Even in AU53 the pops are only PCSG 2, NGC 4. There are NO records of this coin having been sold in auction. The last 73CC $10 of any grade to sell was an AU53 and that was back in 2004. At that time that coin sold for $43,700.00 in Stacks. Our customer purchased this great rarity a few years ago via private treaty. If you are assembling the ultimate CC or $10 Liberty Collection, then this is a coin you can not pass up. Imagine how much competition there would be and what this could possibly sell for if it were to a appear in major auction!
