$10 1803 LARGE STARS PCGS AU53

This is a very rare and underrated Early $10. These generally do not come nice. We are pleased to have purchased a wonderful example!

There are practically no major marks (only the typical teenie ticks you see with a glass) visible. A few stray adjustment lines (Mint made) can be seen on the reverse. The surfaces are smooth and do emit a hint of luster. We do suspect this coin had a very light cleaning long, very long ago (as most have had). Still, you do see originality in the surfaces. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have sharp strikes. The wear on this coin is very light and does not stand out. The eye appeal is great!

PCGS 3, NGC 1, CAC 2. PCGS has only graded 8 coins higher. The last PCGS AU53 to appear in major public auction (a NON CAC of course) brought $34,500.00 in 2006 Stacks. Even an AU 50 (pop 2) sold for $25,300.00 in 2008 (while the AU58 sold for $98,000.00 in 2006). There is only 1 AU55 and that has no auction records. This is absolute proof these rarely make appearances anywhere, let alone even in auctions!
