Whats keeping this killer SUPERB GEM from MS67? Probably a little more color would have done it. This coin is all there and then some otherwise!
We are blow away at this coins technical qualities. Rarely do we ever see Lafayette Dollars as clean or silky smooth as this one. A full booming cartwheel like luster shows off ZERO imperfections of any size, anywhere. Superb light to moderate colors of ORIGINAL golden brown/pale violet/blue swirl all over the rim areas. The details are unusually sharply struck and have great frost. The eye appeal is VERY pretty (PCGS tends to want monster looks for a 67).
PCGS 83, NGC 60, CAC 11. PCGS has only graded 3 in MS66+, with just 3 higher. This coin sold in auction for $23,500.00 07/13 heritage. We thought that since regular MS66’s were $17,500.00 (a NON CAC sold 04/13 Heritage)-to $20,000.00, this coin represented exceptional value. A PCGS/CAC MS67 would cost $75,000.00+-if you could even get one! It is definitely a HIGHEND piece ANY Common collector would be trilled to include in their set!
