At first glance (and the second glance too) this coin looks like a Proof! It does have mirrors that are that deep.

Remarkable 8″+++ mirrors are ULTRA deep, have ULTRA clarity, and are ULTRA reflective. What keeps this dazzling coin from a 66DMPL-a few teenie weenie ticks scattered about. This is NOT a hacked up coin. Rarely do we see 1881S with mirrors this deep and clear. A thin band of gold frames the outer rims only. Miss Liberty and the details are lightly frosted a silvery white and have FULL strikes. The eye appeal is heart pounding! We consider this a silvery cameo.

PCGS 223, NGC 317, CAC 21. We paid a substantial premium for this coin. We rarely ever see 81S DMPL’s like this anymore. Also, it is housed in an older green tag holder.
