$1 1865 PCGS PR65 CHILDS

$14,950.00

From the famous Childs Collection that was auctioned back in 1999 by B+M. The majority of this collection was hand selected from the Mint and had remained in the Childs family until they were auctioned. This same collection yielded the $1 1804 PCGS PR68-the all time finest. The quality of the coins from that collection is supreme! You can tell this coin had superb care from the Childs family from the day they picked out of the Mint!

Fabulous! The ONLY thing that could be keeping the coin from a higher grade-PCGS does not like a little deeper and slightly mottled toning. Otherwise, this GEM is all there are then some. Technically, this coin does look PR66. Super glassy mirrors are deep, crystal clear, have amazing cleanliness, and are highly reflective. Both sides have slightly motted toning. The obverse is more of a blue/navy/violet/tangerine mix while the obverse is more golden brown/pale olive mix. The colors ARE pretty and are NOT dull or dark. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and have pinpoint sharp strikes and thick frost. The eye appeal is tremendous (the image will NOT due this coin justice)!

Only 500 were ever minted. PCGS 26, NGC 26, CAC 3. The last CAC coin to sell in major auction brought $13,800.00 03/2011 heritage. It certainly was NOT equal to this GEM and did NOT have its amazing pedigree!
