We are blown away that this Civil War era piece has survived in such a perfection condition. Its an amazing SUPERB GEM!
Tremendous mirrors are smooth, have amazing clarity, are remarkably clean, and most important: have bold reflectivity. A totally natural mix of forest green/olive/navy/purple colors swirl on parts of the obverse and cover all of the reverse. While the colors are deep, they are NOT drab or dark. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and have gentle frost. The eye appeal is like the quality-outstanding!
ONLY 470 were ever minted. PCGS 2, NGC 8, CAC 3. This is the ONLY PCGS PR66+ graded. It has never sold in auction. A semi comparison, LM Auctions in Feb sold the 1862 (mintage 550) PCGS PR66+ for $70,000.00. If this 1864 were to be sold in auction, it would bring a record price for sure!
