Mr Simpson does not collect Seated Dollars in Mint State (he does have the #1 all time PR STD set). He saw this coin in our box on a visit and was so smitten by it he had to own it. The quality is SUPER HIGH END!
Seeing is believing. This coin is only one teenie tick from being a full MS65. The surfaces are remarkably clean and smooth. Only with a very strong glass can you see a tick or two. A surprisingly strong luster enhances the beautiful shades of original blue/amber/green/pale purple colors that swirl all over. Most important, this coin is exceptionally sharp in strike. There is no flatness in the stars. The eye appeal is jaw dropping!
PCGS 7, NGC 20, CAC 6 (we think this is 2X). PCGS has graded TWO MS65’s (one is in the Legend Collection the #1 all time finest set we built). This coin was the last 1857 MS64 to sell in auction.
