$1 1844 PCGS MS63

Recently graded. From a fresh collection that had been away for many years and until now was not graded. This is not an auction retread!

Having owned or handled all the finest MS Seated Dollars and having seen many in choice and GEM, we were VERY impressed with the quality of this piece. It is solid for the grade. Both sides have a mixed original colors of golden brown/blue/pale russet that cover large areas. Beneath the colors are incredibly lustrous and even semi-prooflike surfaces. A few teenie ticks can be seen if you look real hard-they are NOT visible to the naked eye. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and have light frost. The eye appeal is excellent!

The great rarity of this date in choice and better MS can not be exaggerated. PCGS 8, NGC 4. PCGS has graded only TWO coins finer (one 64, one 65 BOTH of which we have placed in world class collections). The last example of this date and grade to appear in a major public auction brought $14,950.00 back in 06/05 Heritage. That’s FOUR years ago! This coin was still in an album then!
