$5 1855-S PCGS AU58 CAC SS CENTRAL AMERICA

Even with out it being a Treasure Ship coin, we were in love with it at first sight. To us, it was a lock CAC, and sure enough  it did. We really think this is a very high end coin too. In fact if it was not housed in a special holder, you’d never know where it came from or that it was conserved. We speculate that at most this coin was cleaned with light soap and water. We see NO evidence of any chemicals or scrubbing. It is amazing how the surfaces are really exceedingly clean. Only with a strong glass looking at the obverse can you find a few old light widely scattered ticks. The reverse is near perfect and looks full MS to us. The surfaces besides having a full booming luster also enjoy faint semi -prooflike mirrors (more so on the reverse). Both sides are a brilliant gold color. There are NO spots or stains. Again, if we did not tell you, you never would know it sat underseas for so many years. Miss Liberty and every detail are sharply struck and do have delicate frost. The eye appeal is spectacular! PCSG 12, NGC 16, CAC 3. PCGS has graded only 2 coins higher. The current Collectors Universe Value is $8,000.00 for anything. There are only 3 others graded from the ship AU58. We did see another but did not care for it. We do not see any finer on the original lists of what had been graded (only a small group of lesser coins is still to be graded). Even if you don’t give a honk about the Treasure ship, this coin is a killer 1855-S $5!  It is housed in the big holder w/the pinch of gold. Once this piece is gone, good luck finding another GEM CAC AU piece-even in NON Shipwreck! WE HAVE POSTED THIS COIN AT OUR BEST PRICE
