You rarely 1858 Dollars as nice as this anymore. Most are whizzed low grade pieces. This coin is just outstanding!
Deep, crisp mirrors have remarkable clarity and reflectivity. They appear extremely clean to the naked eye, but you can see a few thin, scattered lines with a strong glass that keep this coin from a PR65 designation. A moderate deep pewter/deep silver mix is spread all over. Miss Liberty and the details are lightly frosted in silver and stand out with crisp, full strikes. The eye appeal is beautiful!
ONLY 300 pieces were ever minted of this PROOF ONLY date. PCGS 7, NGC 12, CAC 1. The last PCGS PR64 sold at auction back in 2008 for $19,550.00 but was not CAC. The current Collectors Universe Value is $25,000.00. Good luck finding another PR64 CAC’d!
