Incredible! How in the world this coin has survived 164 years and still has its original red color is just mind boggling!
The quality is extremely HIGH END too. Both sides have remarkably clean surfaces. A strong luster (for a Half Cent) shows of the GEM ORIGINAL MINT RED color. You can see some tiny toning dots scattered around only if you use a strong glass. Miss Liberty and the details are lightly frosted and have crisp full strikes. The eye appeal is fabulous!
PCGS 4, NGC 4, CAC 2. The last PCGS (NO CAC) piece to even sell in auction brought $4,600.00 way back in 03/2008 Stacks. The long MS65 RD brought $35,650.00 in the Missouri Cabinet Sale 01/2014 Goldberg. We feel VERY strongly this coin isn’t valued anywhere near what it should be! Time will change that!
