$5 1877 PCGS AU55

$9,500.00

This is a very nice example of an EXTREMELY rare date!

It reminds us of a 1901S more than a 1877. The surfaces do have very minor ticks and giggles-which you need a glass to see. To the naked eye the coin does look clean. There are faint traces of semi-prooflike mirrors. Both sides do have a very good luster. The color is an even and totally ORIGINAL deeper gold. There are NO spots or discolorations on the high points. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and standout with exceptional strikes. The eye appeal is great!

ONLY 1132 were minted for circulation. PCGS 7, NGC 3, CAC 1. The last auction record we could find for a PCGS AU 55 (NOT CAC of course) was from 2000! Back then the coin sold for $3,819.00 B+M. Any gold specialist will know how extremely rare this date is. After 25+ years of operations, PCGS has possibly only graded 12 coins higher. Most of the higher graded coins have not been publicly offered for 5+ years-or more! NO published prices are correct given how infrequently these have traded. Opportunity knocks so loud it hurts!
