Hard to imagine, but the last 1891O DMPL we handled-was the Jack Lee piece back in 1997! We have not seen many and then the one or two we have seen-pure dreck! This near GEM was well worth the wait!
Most important, this coin does have full 8″ mirrors. There is no shallow patch above the In God We Trust on the reverse. A few scattered very teeny ticks are visible. Some light milkiness can be seen-yet the mirrors are clearly ‘watery” and have bold reflectivity. There are also a few micro grease dots. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted a creamy white and have full strikes. The eye appeal is really nice!
PCGS 7, NGC 6, CAC 1. This is the ONLY MS63 + DMPL graded. No 64’s have been beaned or have been on the market since 2006! A PCGS CAC MS64 DMPL would probably cost $15,000.00+ easy today. We can not stress enough the extreme rarity of this coin.
