Students of large Cents study this GEM-it is PERFECT! Had PCGS graded it a MS68 BN, we’d have agreed!
We actually studied this coin for a long time and found only one teenie toning dot. There really ZERO imperfections. The surfaces are smooth and do emit a VERY strong luster. Generous peaks of GEM ORIGINAL Mint RED color spill from the protected areas. The balance of the surfaces are a beautiful semi glossy brown. Miss Liberty and the details are lightly frosted and have full strikes. The eye appeal is tremendous!
PCGS 1, NGC 1, CAC 1. This is the FINEST MS67 1838! Again, do not count what the Naftzger coins sold for in their ORIGINAL sale. we did buy this piece in the Cardinal Sale where we bought the 1794 $1. These are tremendous quality GEMS that brought current market. We still think an MS67 like this should be worth more-but its really only its second market exposure in 50 years.
