When this coin originally sold-we were the underbidders. It haunted us since 2009. When the coin became available-we bought it! We consider this piece to absolutely be one of the FINEST (if not the FINEST) early RED Large Cent. We also think its ULTRA HIGH END!

Unbelievable surfaces are amazingly perfect. Only with a strong glass can you detect some tiny toning dots-NOT spots or problems. An outrageous intense booming luster beams from all over. Both sides are a mind-boggling full ORIGINAL GEM MINT RED-with NO fading! Think about that, 176 years old and it is almost like it left the Mint! Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and are well struck. There was uneven striking pressure so some of the stars are flat (probably what keeps this coin from a MS66 RD). The eye appeal is beyond amazing and is absolutely something you will NEVER forget-we did not.

PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. back in 02/2009 at the Naftzger sale this coin brought $35,650.00. Sure, we paid more today-but we also think this coin should be worth $75,000.00-$100,000.00. There is nothing else like it! This coin has been away in world class type set since the 2009 sale.
