25C 1856 PCGS PR64 PITTMAN

$14,000.00

VERY HIGH END! This coin narrowly misses PR65 status!

Exceptionally clean mirrors have moderate reflectivity. Even with a strong glass you can not find any lines or detraction. The obverse has moderate navy/golden brown colors, while the reverse is more navy. Miss Liberty and the details are needle sharp in strike. The eye appeal is very pleasing.

ONLY 40 pieces were ever minted. PCGS 8, NGC 6, CAC 3. PCGS has graded only ONE PR65 and none higher. This piece is the EX john Pittman coin. In his day, JP had one of the best collections of early proof coins that existed!

The last one of these to sell in major auction brought $11,224.00 03/11 Stacks. This is a wonderful piece of numismatic royalty and history!
