This date in AU50 and higher (CAC’d of course) is probably one of the easiest coins anyone can sell to us. We have forever been in love and feel these are GROSSLY UNDERVALUED!
Only both using a strong glass can you detect any slight wear at all. There are some old ticks and lines, but nothing that’s discolored or stands out. Both sides do offer traces of prooflike mirrors and are also very lustrous. A deeper shade of orange gold swirls about. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck. The eye appeal is great!
Only 1468 were ever minted. PCGS 8, NGC 12, CAC 2. This date in AU58 is much rarer than a 1881, pop 20, mintage 500, and a 1885 PCGS 19, mintage 801. This definitely is the “silent stopper” for the series.
Unfortunately, we have seen many of these that were messed with. To find one not messed with is much more difficult than you realize.
