10C 1824/2 PCGS MS64

$8,500.00

This is not your typical Bust Dime. First, we have never seen one of these that we really liked (we have owned half the pop of MS64’s). Apparently not a lot of care went into striking them. This coin has proof of that.

It appears under a strong glass this coin was struck from slightly rusted dies. Also, the planchet did not seem to the best. You can clearly see die clashing (Mint made) and a few scattered teenie tick and lines. To the naked eye the coin appears clean. The luster is actually decent and makes the moderate layer of pewter more lively. The strike is typical for the date-good but not great. You do NOT need a glass to see the over strike on the date (which we think is pretty neat). Still, the eye appeal manages to be nice.

PCGS 6, NGC 6, CAC 1. PCGS has graded only 2 coins higher. The last one to appear in major auction brought $8,050.00 09/09 Heritage. Opportunity knocks loud for the serious Bust Dime Collector.
