We love $3 gold pieces-in ALL grades. It took us two seconds to buy this totally original high end GEM AU piece.
The wear is light and there are NO discolorations on the high points. Overall, the surfaces are clean to the naked eye. there are a few tick and lines visible ONLY under a glass. The color is a rich gold-with light “golden brown like” toning. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck. The eye appeal is exceptional too. We classify this coin as a GEM AU. It is also our understanding this coin came out of a NGC AU58 holder.
Definitely the classic rarity of the series with ONLY 1120 minted. PCGS 15, NGC 12, CAC 2. The last one to sell in major public auction brought $51,750.00 06/08 Heritage. if you are building a very choice $3 set, this is a coin you do not want to miss!
